Pruning Search Space in Defeasible Argumentation

چکیده
Defeasible argumentation has experienced a considerable growth in AI in the last decade. Theoretical results have been combined with development of practical applications in AI & Law, CaseBased Reasoning and various knowledge-based systems. However, the dialectical process associated with inference is computationally expensive. This paper focuses on speeding up this inference process by pruning the involved search space. Our approach is twofold. On one hand, we identify distinguished literals for computing defeat. On the other hand, we restrict ourselves to a subset of all possible conflicting arguments by introducing dialectical constraints.

Computing Dialectical Trees Efficiently in Possibilistic Defeasible Logic Programming
Possibilistic Defeasible Logic Programming (P-DeLP) is a logic programming language which combines features from argumentation theory and logic programming, incorporating as well the treatment of possibilistic uncertainty and fuzzy knowledge at object-language level. Solving a P-DeLP query Q accounts for performing an exhaustive analysis of arguments and defeaters for Q, resulting in a so-calle...
متن کاملTransaction Logic with Defaults and Argumentation Theories
Transaction Logic (abbr., T R) [9,12] is a logic that gracefully integrates both declarative and procedural knowledge. It has proved itself as a powerful logic language for many advanced applications, including actions specification and planning in AI. In a parallel development, much work has been devoted to various theories of defeasible reasoning [19]. In this paper, we unify these two stream...
متن کاملDefeasible Reasoning and Partial Order Planning
Argumentation-based formalisms provide a way of considering the defeasible nature of reasoning with partial and often erroneous knowledge in a given environment. This problem affects every aspect of a planning process. We will present an argumentation-based formalism that an agent could use for constructing plans starting from a previously introduced formalism. In such a formalism, agents repre...
متن کاملRecommender System Technologies based on Argumentation 1
In recent years there has been a wide-spread evolution of support tools that help users to accomplish a range of computer-mediated tasks. In this context, recommender systems have emerged as powerful user-support tools which provide assistance to users by facilitating access to relevant items. Nevertheless, recommender system technologies suffer from a number of limitations, mainly due to the l...
متن کاملDefeasible argumentation for multi-agent planning in ambient intelligence applications
This contribution presents a practical extension of a theoretical model for multi-agent planning based upon DeLP, an argumentation-based defeasible logic. Our framework, named DeLP-MAPOP, is implemented on a platform for open multi-agent systems and has been experimentally tested, among others, in applications of ambient intelligence in the field of health-care. DeLP-MAPOP is based on a multi-a...
